Data Protection Impact Assessment

Data Protection Impact Assessment

Data protection starts with the identification of the risks for the data subject. The Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) is one of the instruments used to do this. The DPIA is required by law in high-risk situations and helps you to identify and minimise the risks associated with the processing of personal data. But how do you do that? After all, the law only prescribes that you have to carry out a DPIA, but hardly prescribes how you should do this. And how do you translate the risks into measures in practice?
In the DPIA training, you learn how to carry out a DPIA, starting from the moment you make an inventory of a specific case, through to the assessment of the risks and the final report on these risks and the appropriate measures. You will work with an example from practice so that you will learn to apply the theory immediately.

After this training:

  1. You know the conditions for the performance of a DPIA;
  2. You know in which cases a DPIA is mandatory;
  3. You can assess when there is a residual risk after performing a DPIA, and you know how to act;
  4. You can perform a DPIA;
  5. You know where your points for improvement lie with regard to the existing DPIA process in your own organisation.
